A Quick Trip to the Citee !

What a fun day !   Left New Hampshire 6:30AM - Arrived New York City 11:30AM.   Believe it or not, the bus trip was fun - I haven't laughed so much in quite some time.
Made some new friends and played some fun games...
Before the trip, I'd emailed our tour guide the "Just One Star" info from Moda... She challenged all 45 travellers to make "Just One Star."
We ended up with 35.
I promised to mail them to Moda for her.   Lots of red and white stars.
Here's a photo of the blocks on my design wall:

Infinite Variety:  Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts
I've never seen so many beautiful quilts in one place - the exhibit design was incredible.
Thank you, Mrs Rose, for sharing your beautiful quilts.
I will never ever forget March 28, 2011.
Here are some photos taken by my friend, Denene:

Weekend's Over - Almost Anyway

Tomorrow I leave home at 5:15AM and catch a bus to NY City to see Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts, the 650 red and white quilt exhibition at the Park Avenue Armory.    Unfortunately, neither of my cameras will take more than a few photos a time.   New one on order...      I'll just have to take memory photos...  and buy the book.    For more info about the exhibit, check out Martha Stewart's blog, by clicking here...

Here's a photo of the pin cushion I finished this afternoon.   Found the pattern for this one in blogland...   Cute, isn't it ?

Time to get dinner on...  swordfish - yummy.    Hope you all had a great weekend.

And sew on...

Quilts with Meaning

Each Spring my guild, the Squanicook Colonial Quilt Guild, hangs a small quilt exhibit  at a local library.  I'm one lucky person to be in the Squanicookies company, some of the kindest, most encouraging and good people I've ever met.

I was only able to take a couple photos because my camera said my card was full.   No way is it full - I think I need a new card...

Anyway, Merumo, I took a photo of this quilt, by Rachel Gallant, for you...

And this one, made by Barbara Forslind, reminded me of a 1990 family trip to Prince Edward Island, where I first encountered Lupine...

Someone told me that today is National Quilting Day.   So, after fixing a little lunch, I'm going to quilt.    I hope you are too.

"...Brand New Day"

While stitching, I like to listen to music, my favorite songs come from the singer/songwriter genre.    Yesterday, "It's a Brand New Day," by Joshua Radin, stuck in my mind.    If you have time, take a listen, and you'll understand why.

No Irish in me... not even a little, just a little Welsh.
Our daughter-in-law has an O' in her maiden name.  She's a wonderful young woman, mommy and wife to our sweet son.
My friend's daughter, who's name starts with McK, is an Irish Step-Dancer and a very accomplished one at that !
My favorite spectator sport is basketball and I adore watching the Celtics, whether they win or lose, at the "Gahden."
So, can I say I'm Irish vicariously through others ?
I wish all my friends (whether Irish or not) in blogland and everywhere a joyous day...

Daylight Saving Time was this past Sunday, today is St. Patrick's Day, so that means Spring's on it's way.   It should be tomorrow, because it's supposed to be in the 60s here.   In fact, this coming Sunday is the first day of Spring !    You wouldn't know it though, we still have lots of snow in our yard.   Finally, after yesterday's rain,  the ice is gone from the driveway and I can, again, host my stichin' group at my house...

In honor of Spring's arrival, I've been working on 1/2" 30s hexi flowers - to adorn the cute little tree I found at a craft shop...

Let this "...Brand New Day" begin.

And sew on,

I Apologize

On February 2, 2011 I posted a photo of Twister Wreath and stated, “… I designed this Wreath wall hanging…”

Yesterday I was informed that The Gathering Room Quilt Shop http://gatheringroomquiltshop.com of La Grange, KY copyrighted a pattern, named Twisted Christmas in July of 2010, that looks just like my Twister Wreath.

I did not know of The Gathering Room Quilt Shop's Twisted Christmas pattern until yesterday.

One day, early in December, wanting to make a Christmas wall hanging with my Li’l Twister Tool (by CS designs www.country-schoolhouse.com), I sat down with the book, “Square Dance,” by Martha Thompson and graph paper and pencil, drew a circle. Within the circle, I wrote “R”s, “G”s, and “B”s for the red squares, green squares and background square placement to make a wreath.

Needing to complete other projects and with company soon to arrive for Christmas, I put my project away.

Around the middle of December I noticed a blogger buddy of mine had made a little wreath quilt with her Li’l Twister tool too. Hers turned out smaller than mine would and had only one border.   I planned to have both an inner and outer border, as I do on most of my quilts.

When my sister arrived I set about making my wall hanging, but didn’t finish it until after the Holidays. I was very pleased with the results and posted the photo and statement on my blog.

I sincerely apologize to The Gathering Room Quilt Shop of La Grange, KY for failing to search for a pattern before making my statement.  It was truly not my intention to copy your pattern.  I would never do that.   I respect the time, energy and cost that designers expend to publish patterns and books.  I'm very careful to give credit where credit is due.  I did not, have not and do not plan to profit from this wall hanging.   Thank you for taking time today to read my post.

What can I do ?

When disaster strikes far away, sometimes we don't know where we fit in and what we can do.

I'm going to make Just One (and probably, more) Star(s)...

Click here for more info.    Pass the word...

My blogger friend, Merumo, said, "I've heard that Japan has officially requested aid from the United States, so I believe this little block will help some how somewhere between here and there. "  Bless you, Merumo, and your family.
