Monday, Monday...

Recent purchase:  a new laptop computer.
Windows 8 - I LOVE it !
Have always wanted one of those pretty, feminine, quilted laptop cases, so decided to make myself one.
Went through my stash and found some pre-quilted fabric, bought several years ago to make a tote bag.
Here's what I devised:

A sleeve, with Velcro closure.
The most time-consuming detail is the bias-cut binding, which I hand-stitched after turning.
And I even have enough quilted and lining fabric to make a matching tote to carry the sleeve - probably, even enough to make a matching wallet too !
 Possibilities are endless !

It's been a long winter in New England, as it has all over the country.
My Grandma M taught me to knit over 50 years ago !
Motivated by a dear friend, I pulled out the knitting needles and taught myself to make my  first pair of socks:

Time to get back to stitching.

And Sew On...

Jo's Little Women Club 12 - February, 2013

Howdy, Friends ~

In between snowfalls, twenty-nine ambitious quilters attended the February JLWC meetings at The Quilted Crow in Boxborough, MA.  www.thequiltedcrow.com

Twenty-eight members, includes 3 online members, completed their
"Abbygayle Scraps" quilt(s) top(s).
Since it would take hours to upload all the photos taken, I've decided to show you the group photos...

(from left to right)
Penny Spellman (hiding behind her quilt), Bonnie Broders, Kathy Dugan, Ann Hoyle, Dianne Scully and JoAnn Borges

Phyllis Ferguson, Wendy Hall, Janice Boutotte, Susan Therriault, and Maureen Mullen
(that's Ida Morrison behind her book)

Beth Cardozo, Pauline Wylie, Vicky Haskell, Skip Winters, Sue Callahan, Yvette DuPuis, Paula Lane and Sue Loring, holding Colleen Triola's pretty Abby

Mary Lou Sanborn, Karen Baer, Jennifer Bachand, Connie Turner, Susan Primeau and Laura Lane

Each member, who shared their quilt/top, qualified for the monthly prize-drawing.
This month's prizes were one-of-a-kind, original pin cushions, made by Rose Wuoti from Jo Morton fabric selvage edges.
Phyllis Ferguson and Vicky Haskell were the lucky winners !

"Northbound" was presented and some of the many products available to aid in making half-square triangles were demonstrated.
Members will be working on this little quilt to share at our March meeting.
Here is a photo of my little (16" x 14") quilt :

After leaving us about a foot, the snow has, finally, stopped for today.
Thought you might enjoy the sight from my kitchen window:

For now it's time to stitch.
Tomorrow I shall shop.

And Sew on...
